The U.S. Census Bureau reports that continuing education translates into higher lifetime income. For example, the lifetime earnings of an individual with a 2-year associate or technical degree will exceed, by $600,000, the lifetime earnings of a person without a high school diploma. Through the year 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor is projecting that jobs requiring a bachelor’s degree or higher will grow faster than the average of all jobs. In addition, the average worker will change jobs or positions and be re-trained up to seven times during the years of total employment. All students are encouraged to plan for some form of continuing education after high school.
