Clubs and Activities Boiling Springs High School has a variety of clubs and activities for students to participate in.
JAZZ BAND
Advisor: Kent Kenyon
Criteria: Separate audition from the high school band.
Meeting Times: Monday or Thursday evenings, October through June. Times pending schedules.
Purpose: Study and perform music of the Big Band Era, swing music and popular music. Performs at various Jazz Band Festivals, concerts and community events.
CONCERT CHOIR
Advisor: Mr. Keith Roden
Criteria: Separate audition from the high school chorus.
Meeting Times: Rehearses in the evenings, once a week for two hours.
Purpose: To travel throughout the central PA area performing a wide variety of music for various organizations and community functions.
GIRLS’ ENSEMBLE
Advisor: Mr. Keith Roden
Criteria: Non-auditioned group.
Meeting Times: Rehearses one evening a week for 45 minutes.
Purpose: Performs a wide variety of SA, SSA, and SSAA music. The group performs several times a year for various community functions.
MEN’S ENSEMBLE
Advisor: Mr. Keith Roden
Criteria: Non-auditioned group.
Meeting Times: Varies.
Purpose: Performs a wide variety of TB, TTB, and TTBB music. The group performs several times a year for various community functions.
SKI CLUB
Advisor: Mr. Craig Ilgenfritz
Eligibility Criteria: Everyone is welcome.
Meeting Times: Sundays 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm, January – March.
Purpose: To experience exciting and challenging activities.
FLY FISHING CLUB
Advisor: Ms. Barbara Ferrell
Eligibility Criteria: Everyone is welcome.
Meeting Times: Once a cycle during resource.
Purpose: No experience needed, learn more about fly fishing.
STUDENT COUNCIL
Advisor: Mrs. Cynthia Bailey & Mrs. Amber Kane
Eligibility Criteria: Potential members must complete an application prior to elections in May, maintain a 70% GPA, and give a brief speech.
Meeting Times: Once a cycle during resource.
Purpose: The Student Council works to improve the school and community through projects and extra curricular activities such as monetary fundraisers, a canned food drive, and a variety of programs designed for the student body. The Student Council also sponsors the Homecoming and Winter dances.
YOUTH ALIVE CLUB
Advisor: Mr. Jeffrey Schwartz
Eligibility Criteria: Everyone is welcome.
Meeting Times: Once a cycle during resource and Fridays 7:00 am – 7:25 am.
Purpose: For Christian students interested in meeting, encouraging others, worshiping and praying for needs in and out of school.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
Advisor: Mr. Jeffrey Schwartz
Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must complete an activity form, grades 10-12, 93% weighted GPA, leadership, service and character. Selected members must demonstrate 20 or more hours of community service per year.
Meeting Times: None.
Purpose: To give recognition to deserving students in a national organization with chapters in many high schools across the country.
INTERACT CLUB
Advisors: Ms. Amy Eichelberger and Mr. Christopher Storrick
Eligibility Criteria: Students in grades 10-12 must complete an application.
Meeting Times: Once a cycle during resource.
Purpose: Students participate in many service activities in and outside of school.
SADD CLUB
Advisor: Mrs. Susan Stallings & Mr. Matt Brenner
Eligibility Criteria: Grades 10-12.
Meeting Times: Twice a month during resource.
Purpose: Provide activities to encourage safe and healthy choices, no use of alcohol or drugs and not riding with a driver who has been drinking.
ATHLETIC TRAINING
Advisor: Mr. Benjamin Widder
Eligibility Criteria: Students in grades 9-12 must complete an application and maintain an 85%.
Meeting Times: Daily 2:45 pm – 5:30 pm during the sport season.
Purpose: Provide a basic understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to pursue an interest in Athletic Training. Students may assist in the routine administration of services needed.
DEBATE TEAM
Advisors: Mrs. Susan Stallings & Mr. Michael Bogdan
Eligibility Criteria: Grades 9-12.
Meeting Times: Once a cycle during resource and Wednesdays from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
Purpose: To debate the national policy debate topic on select Wednesdays from October through February.
QUIZ TEAM
Advisor: Mrs. Rachel Zilbering
Eligibility Criteria: Students who have a competitive spirit and quick recall of factual information. Students may attend the first practice in September to see if interested.
Meeting Times: Mondays 3:00 pm – 4:20 pm
Purpose: Compete in the Capital Area Quiz Bowl League.
Le Cercle Français - FRENCH CLUB
Advisor: Mrs. Cynthia Bailey Eligibility Criteria: Students must be in the process or have already completed a sequence of French language courses.
Meeting Times: During resource as announced.
Purpose: The French Club is open to students of all levels of French who are interested in learning more about the French language and culture. Activities include team games, written and conversational language practice, movies, competitions against the Spanish club and participation in World Language Week activities.
El Club de Español - SPANISH CLUB
Advisor: Mr. Michael Bogdan Eligibility Criteria: Students must be in the process or have already completed a sequence of Spanish language courses.
Meeting Times: During resource as announced.
Purpose: The Spanish Club is open to students of all levels of Spanish who are interested in learning more about the Spanish language and culture. Activities include team games, written and conversational language practice, movies, competitions against the French club and participation in World Language Week activities.
CHESS CLUB
Advisor: Mr. Richard Curtis
Criteria: Any student who is interested in learning and playing chess.
Meeting Times: Once a cycle during resource.
Purpose: To encourage and promote basic rules and strategies. Both beginners and advanced players are welcome.
NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY
Advisor: Ms. Pamela Wellington
Criteria: Grades 10-12. Must maintain 93% or better in all art classes. Must be preparing for a career in the arts and a major or minor in visual art in college.
Meeting Times: Twice a cycle during resource and once a week after school.
Purpose: Inspiring and recognizing those students who are gifted in visual art. To aid members in working toward the attainment of their highest potential in the visual arts and to bring visual arts education to the attention of the school and community.
La Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SPANISH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY)
Advisor: Mr. Michael Bogdan
Criteria: Admission by the department. See society webpage for criteria and application.

Purpose: To recognize high achievement of students in the Spanish language and promote a continuing interest in Hispanic studies.
