Curriculum Map: Physical Education Fifth Grade

Description:

This course is intended to have students develop the knowledge and skills needed for movement that offers the foundation for enjoyment and social development through physical activity. The fifth grade physical education course is intended to: review and hone previously learned skills; progress to higher level skills; incorporate those skills into team play.

Know the positive and negative effects of regular participation in moderate to vigorous physical activities
Know and recognize changes in body responses during moderate to vigorous physical activity: heart rate, breathing rate
Recognize and describe game strategies using an appropriate vocabulary
Explain and apply the basic movement skills and concepts to create and perform movement sequences and advanced skills
Describe the relationship between practice and skill development
