Preordering Meals & Nutrislice

Online Meal Ordering via Nutrislice, Menus and A la Carte

Due to safety restrictions related to COVID-19, the district will limit large numbers of students congregating in areas including the cafeteria meal serving lines. South Middleton School District has switched to online meal ordering for the majority of the students in the district.  Online meal orders will be received and prepared by the Chartwells cafeteria staff.

Meal distribution will occur in several ways

  1. Grab and go from the breakfast carts and serving lines as students arrive at school - all grades
  2. Individual meal orders distributed to students as classrooms report to the cafeteria for mealtime – grades K-8
  3. Grades 9-12- students will be allowed to purchase meals and a la carte items by going through one of many available serving lines
  4. Individual meal pre-orders distributed to students at the end of their in-building instructional day to take home for virtual instruction days
  5. Individual meal orders distributed for SMSD Bubbler Cyber Academy students on designated pick-up days

Meal distribution for students in the Bubbler Cyber Academy  will occur on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00-10:30 AM behind the Boiling Springs High School at the student parking lot entrance (see map below).

Menus are presented in several ways to make organizing the orders easier

Because students will be getting meals in a variety of ways, the easiest way to organize and track orders is by presenting them in “different” menus.  There are also days that no meals will be available since no students will be in the buildings for distribution (i.e. virtual learning on Fridays for all students grades 6-12, so YBMS and BSHS will not have menu items available for in-building meals on those menus).

Online Pre-ordering of meals via NUTRISLICE

  • Online pre-ordering of lunches for students in grades K-8 is available for the days that these students will be at the schools for in-building instruction. Meals must be pre-ordered by 9:00 AM for the day of service.
  • Online pre-ordering for students in grades 6-12 is available for breakfast and lunch for the days that they will be home for virtual learning.
  • Online ordering for students enrolled in the SMSD Bubbler Cyber Academy (all grades) is available for breakfast and lunch Monday – Friday, for pick-up two times per week at the Boiling Springs High School.(Meals for pick-up will be “bundled” – multiple days of breakfasts and lunches will be distributed on the designated pick-up days.)

Packing a lunch, A la Carte Purchases, Charging vs. cash

Students in all grades may still choose to bring in a packed lunch.

For students in grades K-8, la carte purchases must be pre-ordered and must be paid for by charging items. Students must have funds in their accounts to cover this cost.  No cash transactions will be allowed in grades K-8.

Students in grades 9-12 will be allowed to go through one of the multiple serving lines to get meals and a la carte items.  Cash transactions are allowed but charging for purchases is preferred.
