Children’s Online Protection and Privacy Act

Parents and Guardians,

South Middleton School District provides various educational content to students in digital form. As a student within our District, your child is provided with a Google account in order to complete assignments, communicate with their teachers, sign into their school issued devices, and learn digital citizenship skills. Because the District deems these Google student accounts as necessary to support in-classroom instruction and are curricular in nature, it ensures that all content selected has been reviewed by District personnel and determined to be compliant with the Children’s Online Protection and Privacy Act (COPPA). The District has consented on behalf of all parents and guardians to provide this educational tool to all students and has agreed to use such content in a manner consistent with COPPA. For more information about COPPA and schools, see the Frequently Asked Questions.
