Curriculum Map: Physical Education First Grade


This course is intended to have students develop the knowledge and skills needed for movement that offers the foundation for enjoyment and social development through physical activity. The main emphasis in first grade is to continue learning body control and understanding key vocabulary such as locomotor movements, manipulative skills, coordination and body awareness.

Recognize the importance of stretching before engaging in physical activity.
Apply physical fitness strategies, techniques and concepts to create an improve level of fitness.
Participate in a variety of physical activities at a level that increases heart and breathing rates.
Use various fundamental motor movements.
