School District Supervision and Monitoring

School and network administrators and their authorized employees monitor the use of information technology resources to help ensure that uses are secure and in conformity with the district’s acceptable use policy. Administrators reserve the right to examine, use, and disclose any data found on the school's information networks, which includes personal computers, in order to further the health, safety, discipline, or security of any student or other person, or to protect property. They may also use this information in disciplinary actions and will furnish evidence of inappropriate activity to law enforcement.

Parents/Guardians must monitor their student’s compliance with these standards. Students who violate these standards may face disciplinary measures and/or legal action.


Monitoring Student Progress

Students in the SMDLC are closely monitored on a daily a bases by the cyber director. Student and parents/guardians will be contacted when a student falls behind or is failing his/her course/courses. At this time, per the SMDLC student contract on page 17, students will be notified and are required to report daily to the cyber classroom until they catch up and have a passing grade.

Testing Policies

Students are required to participate in all school and state mandated assessments. SMSD will communicate with the student with regard to the dates and times that he/she is to arrive at the local school to take specified assessments.
